Race Layout
The layout of this race will be the same as previous summer events with the addition of the gloop slide after the bouncy castle.  (refer below)

Race Description
The race commences with a small run to the bike transition where children mount their bikes. All helmets are to be fastened before commencing to ride.  Parents you may wish to have children with helmets on at the start line to minimise fuss at bike transition.  Once on their bike they are to leave bike transition and cycle around the bike course which will be clearly marked.  The bike course will finish back at bike transition where the children will dismount their bikes and remove their helmets, a small run from bike transition to the bouncy castle, gloop slide then run to the finish line.

Three year olds have the choice of a running race or the run and bouncy castle. Please ensure you have marked this on the entry from.  2 yr olds only run race.

Race Process
In order to ensure that the race course is not congested, each age group will be running in waves of 10-15 children in each wave per age group.

The race process will be split into four race stages as follows:

  1. Race Prep– calling of children’s names for their race wave
  2. Pre Race – children awaiting racing
  3. Start – children lined up at the start line
  4. Finish – children presented with a certificate and plastic participation medal

Once the first race wave has finished the second wave will be called to the start line, while the next wave of children will be called to the race prep area to wait. This process will enable each age category to move more quickly through the racing process with minimal down time.

Their will be a brief break between age group races, to allow change over of bikes into bike transition area.

Race Times
October is the beginning of our summer events with the addition of the gloop slide after the bouncy castle. All waves running continuously from 4yr through 7yr until that age group has completed racing then the 2 & 3 years race.  Actual race times will be posted by midday, Saturday prior to race day on our web site under “Race Time Table”.  Please check the start time of your child’s age category.  Wave numbers will be posted up on the display board on race day for parents.  Please take a note of your child’s wave.

Race Clothing – Halloween Dress Up
For this race we are in theme – prizes for the best Halloween outfits. Please ensure your child can race in this clothing and that clothing can get wet and soapy. Capes can get caught in wheels so please no long capes on the bikes or tuck them into pants. Running shoes will remain on children’s feet until they reach the bouncy castle slide where they will remove shoes before climbing up the castle. This is important as we do not want to damage the bouncy castle slide.  There will be a marshal at the castle to queue children and assist should a child have difficulty untying shoes.  The shoes will then be brought back to the finish line for children or parents to collect.
